Disabled Businesspersons Association Receives Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC) Contract
The San Diego-based Disabled Businesspersons Association has been awarded the Veterans Business Resource Center contract by the federally chartered National Veterans Business Development Corporation, commonly known as "The Veterans Corporation." The Grand Opening will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 in San Diego, California.
The Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC) provides business information, assistance and networking opportunities to America's enterprising veteran and disabled veteran. From the business evaluation and planning phase to the access to capital, markets, training, and services, the VBRC is the one-stop center for personal assistance, information, and counseling. Serving active duty and retired, National Guard and Reservists, service-disabled and disabled veteran, the San Diego VBRC is the Western Region's Center, as well as being "the" business resource for all disabled veterans nationwide.
"Being designated as a VBRC is a tremendous asset to the services we already provide, and brings us back to our roots as an organization originally founded in 1985 to serve veterans in business," said Urban Miyares, blinded Vietnam veteran and president of the Disabled Businesspersons Association. "All veterans, and especially disabled and severely disabled veterans have unique needs and challenges in starting a running a business, that many others are not confronted with. It often takes a veteran who has a track record in business to best be able to assist another veteran, and that's what the San Diego VBRC is all about. We provide real world information and assistance, one on one. We are not a referral service."
The Grand Opening of the Veteran Business Resource Center in San Diego is on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, from 7 am until 10 am. A Continental breakfast will be offered, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 9 am -- the beginning of the work day. Everyone is invited to the VBRC Grand Opening event at 3590 Camino del Rio North, San Diego, CA 92108. Free parking is available.
The Disabled Businesspersons Association was founded in 1985 by successful business owners, professionals and executives with disabilities to assist in the rehabilitation towards back-to-work participation by the disabled through self-employment, and maximize their performance in the business world. Honored by the White House, US Small Business Administration, US Congress, Governor of California, Inc. Magazine, and many others, the Disabled Businesspersons Association is recognized as one of the nation's leading authorities in the self-employment of people with disabilities, both veteran and non-veteran alike.
