2006 Assets Learning Conference Update

A Lifetime of Assets: Building Families, Communities & Economies

There is still time to register for the 2006 Assets Learning Conference-A Lifetime of Assets: Building Families, Communities & Economies, September 19-21 in Phoenix, AZ. Please visit www.assetsconference.org today to reserve your space for this must-attend event- which will be the largest gathering of the asset-building field to date. The World Institute on Disability is proud to be one of the Learning Conference Partners for this important conference. Largely due to WID's role, we have ensured that people with disabilities and the issues that affect our ability to build assets will be integrated into the entire conference. For attendees interested in learning more about helping people with disabilities build assets the following sessions cannot be missed.

Cheryl Billingsley, will be one of the accountholders telling how she used an Individual Development Account (IDA) to fulfill her dream to become a homeowner at the Breakfast with Accountholders Plenary Wednesday morning.

Additionally, disability issues will be specifically addressed in these workshops and roundtables.

Workshops:

  • IDAs and Public Benefits: Helping IDA Participants Save without Losing their Benefits
  • Financial Education: Models from the United States and Canada
  • The Asset Accumulation and Tax Policy Project for People with Disabilities

Roundtables:

  • Earned Income Tax Credit: Outreach to People with Disabilities
  • Asset Building and People with Disabilities: The Medicaid Issue
