EQUITY Responds: WID Answers Your Questions

Q: How can I learn more about tribal governments and the issues they face?

A: The best source of information about American Indian and Alaska Native governments is a national organization called the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) based in Washington, DC.  NCAI was founded in 1944 to inform the public and Congress on the governmental rights of American Indians and Alaska Natives.  Today, the organization represents over 250 tribal governments.  To learn more about issues of importance to tribes, visit www.ncai.org.

A similar organization representing Native Hawaiian communities is the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (www.hawaiiancouncil.org).
